Strengthening Supervisory Practice: Developmental, Ethical, and Legal Dimensions

This training is designed for clinical supervisors. The course begins with a foundational exploration of clinical supervision, examining core definitions and the diverse functions supervisors fulfill in fostering professional growth. Building on this foundation, participants will engage in a comprehensive review of the Integrated Developmental Model of supervision, a theoretically grounded framework that equips supervisors to accurately assess supervisees’ developmental stages, calibrate expectations, and implement interventions that promote both competence and reflective practice. The program concludes with a focused analysis of the legal and ethical dimensions of supervision, providing evidence-informed guidelines and strategies to uphold professional standards while mitigating risks of ethical or legal liability.

This class meets the clinical supervision course requirement for licensure renewal in California and most other states.

Sharon Greene LCSW

Sharon Greene LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over two decades of experience in clinical supervision, education, and mental health leadership. She currently serves as the Training Director at Providence Saint John’s Child and Family Development Center, a respected nonprofit agency in Los Angeles that delivers comprehensive mental health services to children and their families. Since 2007, Sharon has led the center’s training program, where she designs and delivers supervision curricula, oversees the development of new clinicians, and ensures the highest standards of clinical practice.

A passionate educator, Sharon has been adjunct faculty in the Graduate Schools of Social Work at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Southern California (USC), and California State University, Northridge (CSUN) since 2008. She has taught advanced clinical practice to MSW students, integrating theory, research, and practical application to prepare the next generation of social workers for effective and ethical practice.

Sharon is a recognized trainer in Clinical Supervision and has delivered supervision training to mental health professionals across the country. Since 2003, she has provided direct clinical supervision to pre-licensed clinicians, supporting their growth toward licensure with a focus on reflective practice, multicultural competence, and clinical excellence.

With her unique blend of academic, administrative, and frontline clinical experience, Sharon brings a deep understanding of what effective supervision looks like in real-world practice. Her courses are grounded in evidence-based models and informed by years of hands-on expertise—making them both practical and transformative for clinical supervisors at all levels.

About this webinar

The webinar is a live, interactive class. You will view the webinar in real time from your home or office on a computer, tablet (e.g., iPad) or phone. You will be able see the speaker and the slides, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and respond to polls. You will have access to the handouts, which you can view on your computer or download and print.

You will need to show up on time to receive credit, just like at an in-person class, but you can wear whatever you’d like! The class will run from 10am to 1:15pm Pacific Time. There will be a morning and afternoon break and a break for lunch. At the end of the class you will need to take a post-test and receive a score of 75% or above to pass. You have up to three attempts to pass the post-test. Most people pass on their first attempt. After two attempts to pass the post-test you will need to contact our office and you will be provided with one more attempt to pass the post-test. The post-test will only be available at the end of the class. Once you pass the post-test, you will complete an evaluation online and then you will receive your Certificate of Attendance online, which you can view and print.

Cancellation policy

There is a $35.00 processing fee, per seminar, for refunds requested by the Wednesday prior to the weekend of the webinar. After that time, there will be no refunds. If a course must be cancelled due to an unforeseen event (e.g., natural disaster, instructor illness), the webinar will be rescheduled. Participants will be credited to take the rescheduled course or another PPS webinar. No refunds will be given.

No, there are currently no discounts if two or more people sign up for the webinar.

What is your refund and cancellation policy?
